Looking for a dentist or nurse to answer?

Looking for a dentist or nurse to answer?5 months back I had a sever dental abscess so I went to the hospital and they gave me some antibiotics....3 days past and the infection was getting much worse so I went back. By the time I went back my face was severely swollen. They ended up starting an IV and giving me Clyndomicin (I know I spelled that wrong) and draining it. I had to go back every 4 hours for IV therapy for 48 hours. It did seem to work for the most part but for the past 5 months it has continued to drain. I don't have insurance that's why I haven't been to the dentist to get a root canal. All I have left there is just the root of the tooth. There is absolutely no tooth left and my gum has begun to grow over the root. Well this morning when I woke up bam...My face is all swollen again and I'm in extreme pain. Also since the last time it was infected I've been having chest pains on and off. I've tested positive for MRSA before and I'm afraid that my infection in my mouth is somehow related to this chest pain. I'm unsure what to do to get this looked at again, if someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. This infection is horrible and … [Read More...]

what home remidies are good for painful abscess if warm salt water isn’t wourking?

what home remidies are good for painful abscess if warm salt water isn't wourking?this past wednesday I went to a clinic called good samaritain and the nice dentist pulled three of my upper right back teeth that were giving me hell, now a bunch of infection drained out during the procedure and I already had some imflamation on the upper right and upper left gum before the extractions but the pain was horrible as soon as the anasigia wore off I was so bad I was shaking from the shock, Any ways they do not perscribe anything not even for the pain so I was up and down all night and slept the whole next day but when i woke up both sides had come to a head and they are both really painful but nothing i do is helping them bust or at least go down. The warm salt water hasn't helped either. So what else can I try? p.s. I am taking amoxicilin as the antibiotic Answer by wil petalIf youve got a juicer and a iron belly, raw cabbage juice helps, i dont know why but someone i knew had an absess and it helped that and id used it for infection also, but brace yourself as if you do as it will tastes soooooooooawfulAnswer by J SUse Listerine as often as you can. It is also helpful to apply a … [Read More...]

I’m not sure if I have an abscess?

I'm not sure if I have an abscess?I take care of my teeth and rarely eat candy but last night I was eating (and chewing) those mini jaw breakers and bit my cheek a couple times. Then at the end of the night my jaw felt really sore. It was sorta painful chewing on my left but Really cramped if i chew on my right. I figured I'd just go to sleep and it would be better in the morning but now it's swollen. I can feel it on the outside of my neck on my jawline just under my ear. It still cramps when i chew and it kind of tingles. I checked my webMD app and I'm really really really worried it's an abscess. I'm so scared because if it is I'm really worried it will hurt to get it drained. ugh. Please tell me if you think it could be anything but an abscess or tell me how bad it will hurt to get it fixed.. the area around the swelling is sort of numb.. I'm scared. Answer by Danhmm, it may just be swollen because you bit the affected area the day before, and that coupled with the chewing a jawbreaker may have made it swollen and sore at the same time. I have an abscess, but can’t afford the extraction…?

I have an abscess, but can't afford the extraction...?I have a mortgage and two car payments that my husband and I share. We are making it, but don't have any money in savings. I have been dealing with a bad tooth for quite a while, but like I said, we haven't had the money to really put out for it and we're just starting out. Well, I guess we've held out long enough and now I have a serious problem, it seems. My tooth is beyond a root canal and needs to be extracted, but not the normal numbing and out with the tooth way. My dentist explained that the infection has progressed to where they will have to put me to sleep in order to do the extraction but our insurance doesn't cover the anesthetic, which is almost $ 400. The extraction after insurance helped is around $ 150. That's over $ 550 that we don't have and can't borrow, get a loan, or use a credit card to pay for. It may not seem like a lot to some, but it's more than we can just pull out. I've taken antibiotics but they make the swelling worse! I fear that it may be to late to do anything about it before I have the money. I'm aware that I could die if I don't get it seen about, but it seems like no one will work … [Read More...]

squishy bubble cyst on my gum behind my last molar?

squishy bubble cyst on my gum behind my last molar?Today a cyst like bubble (soft and squishy) developed right up against (behind) my last lower right molar , its right up against my tooth. Im not sure if its an abscessed tooth or just a fluke thing. It gets really hard and then it will de-flate , and within 5 minutes fill right back up. When it drains though, there is no fluid i can notice, its almost like a pressure release with a tiny bit of blood around the back of my tooth. Any suggestions??? Answer by evans0061Hmmm, it does sound kind of like an abcess but I feel like if it was abcessed it would hurt you really bad, and if you are able to push on it, etc. without pain it probably isn't an abscess. It could also be a blister of some type, but I'm not sure how you would have gotten it. If it is bothering you, I would go to the dentist--you could probably even call your dentist and he/she could give you some ideas over the phone.Answer by Calebeww go to dentist n get it checked out Go to top … [Read More...]

Swollen gum localized in one area – what could this be a symptom of?

Swollen gum localized in one area - what could this be a symptom of?The gum in between my first molar and second premolar (second and third teeth from the back on the top right) as well as the front gum above my second premolar (third tooth) are slightly swollen and at times a little painful. I don't think I have a gum abscess as I don't see or feel any bumps along the gum line. The pain is worst in the morning, right after I wake up. The tooth itself isn't in pain, just slightly sensitive but only when I bite down. I get the feeling that any pain in the tooth radiates from the gum. Not sensitive to hold/cold. This went on for about a week then was fine for two days. Then the slight swelling/pain reappeared two days ago. I went to see the dentist, and she said there were no cavities or major problems with the gum. She felt the irritation was just plaque buildup and told me to continue brushing, flossing, using Listerine. Should I be concerned that this could be more serious than just plaque? I just had my teeth cleaned a month and a half ago and have them cleaned every 6-7 mo. I also brush 2-3x/daily, floss daily and use mouthwash 2x/daily. I would think any buildup would not be … [Read More...]

Why won’t my dental abscess go away?

Why won't my dental abscess go away?I have had dental problems since I was a teenager (I am now 24), but I don't have any insurance so going to the dentist or doctor has not been an option as I simply cannot afford it. The last time I went to the dentist was to have a tooth pulled because it was causing me tremendous pain and that was a couple years ago. Well I have a couple teeth causing me problems right now, but one in particular needs to be extracted but it can't be until I get rid of this bad abscess. My cheek has been swollen for 3 or 4 days now. I went to the ER the day it started and they prescribed Keflex and Lortab. Well I have been taking them faithfully but the swelling has not gone down. The abscess has not ruptured or started draining yet but it has become more bearable (perhaps its the pain medication). Today I heard that maybe hydrogen peroxide might help so I did that a bunch of times today plus rinsing with salt water, but I don't see any dramatic improvements from using it. I don't want to go in to the dentist/doctor and have them rupture it, I would rather it just do it on its own then have the tooth extracted once the infection is gone. I have heard good … [Read More...]

please can a dentist help me?

please can a dentist help me?for the past 2 weeks i've been really suffering with a tooth abscess. i'm currently 30weeks pregnant and have been taking cocodamol and amoxcilin 500mg which hasn't really done much. my dentist (on monday-5days ago) drilled out most of my tooth to drain off the abscess. he then put some anticeptic stuff inside and left it open like that for 3 days. during this time it was so much better. the pain was alot better but my lips and the side of my face are still completey numb. when i went back after the 3 days he just put a temporary filling to close it to stop food getting in but since he done that it's all flared back up again and i'm in alot of pain again. i've been to the emergency dentist, dentaline this morning where she opened it up to try to relieve some of the pressure but because she's closed it up again i'm still in pain. i'm getting really fed up with this now and don't like keep taking pain relief and antibiotics while i'm pregnant. i've even tried taking the tooth out myself with pliers when i've got myself in such a state with the pain. please help!! when are my antibiotic’s going to work?

when are my antibiotic's going to work?I had a emergency appointment with my dentist because I had a abscess tooth and let me tell you it hurts like hell it feel like my gum/jaw is being drilled and burned and I cannot sleep . He prescribed me some antibiotic's (Clindamycin) and told me not even opiates will remove the pain the only thing I can do is wait until the infection is reduced . How long does it usually takes ? Its only been 12 hours Answer by GeorgeSometimes they never do. They only assist you rown immune system. Sometimes the tooth is producing too much puss and your body cannot get rid of it faster than it is being produced. If it is the correct antibiotic ( clindamycin should be used at 300mg, 4 times a day for a tooth infection). YOur dentist is an idiot. The best thing to get rid of a tooth ache is too remove the source ( the tooth). Many dentists are mal educated and think the infection must be down before a tooth can be removed. i have an abscessed tooth?

i have an abscessed tooth?I went to the dentist yesterday and he said i have an absceessed tooth..the tooth he was working on is in the front and i think he drilled a hole to let the puss come out. I am taking antibiotics now and my gum is no longer swollen and i feel MUCH better. However, HE DIDNT put any anesthesia when he was drilling it and sticking needles in my tooth!! I was SCARED AS HELL. He said I would not feel pain because the tooth is dead but I was still scared. BUT he was right..I didnt feel anything except when he drilled the hole - i felt sort of sore. He told me to go back on Friday to get it checked again....he said it will also take longer on my next visit...I asked if it is going to hurt and he said no. I am still nervous tho =( DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MY DENTIST IS GOING TO DO NEXT TIME???? please let me know!! thank u so much. Answer by nascar_princess83root canalAnswer by migelitoI don't know what he is going to do next, but take comfort in the fact that he didn't cause a lot of pain the first time. He sounds like someone you can trust. Its very common and understandable to be nervous but I'm sure you'll find its not as bad as you imagine.Answer by … [Read More...]
